Three bottles you probably haven't tried. That's rather the point.
There is a whole world of brilliant wine hiding beyond the usual names. This collection takes you from the ancient vineyards of Lebanon to the volcanic hills of Hungary and into the traditional clay vessels of Georgia, bringing together three bottles that deserve considerably more attention.
No predictable Sauvignon Blanc. No standard-issue Merlot. Just three fascinating wines with proper stories, plenty of character and a very good reason to try something different.
What’s Inside the Box:
Château Ksara Réserve du Couvent
Lebanon is not somewhere most people immediately think of when they think about great wine. They probably should. Château Ksara has been making wine in the Bekaa Valley for generations, and Réserve du Couvent is a beautifully polished example of what Lebanese wine can do.
Rich, generous and beautifully balanced, this is the sort of red that brings ripe dark fruit, spice and structure to the table without becoming heavy. A brilliant partner for slow-cooked meats, grilled dishes, hearty Mediterranean food or a long evening with good company.
Disznókő Tokaji Dry Furmint
Tokaj is famous for its legendary sweet wines, but its dry Furmint deserves its own spotlight. This is a wonderfully fresh, mineral-driven white with green apple, stone fruit, citrus and subtle herbal notes, finishing with the distinctive salty, mineral character of Tokaj.
Bright, precise and seriously refreshing, it is an absolute dream with seafood, oysters, grilled fish, salads and lighter dishes. One for anyone who enjoys their whites with a little more personality.
Tbilvino Qvevris Kisi - Orange Wine
This is where things get properly interesting. Made from the Georgian Kisi grape and fermented in traditional qvevri clay vessels, this is an orange wine with golden colour, dried quince, peach and apricot aromas, ripe texture and gentle tannins.
It's completely different from the average white wine and exactly the sort of bottle that gets a dinner-party conversation started. Serve it with richer dishes, Georgian food, roasted vegetables, poultry or simply open it when you fancy drinking something you've never quite had before.
