The Allure
English sparkling wine with plenty to say for itself.
Black Chalk Classic Brut 2022 is a beautifully precise English sparkling wine from Hampshire, bringing together Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier. Bright citrus, ripe apple and delicate floral notes sit alongside a creamy texture, fine bubbles and the unmistakable freshness of Hampshire's chalk soils.
Elegant, fresh and seriously food friendly. This is English fizz that doesn't need a special occasion, although we're certainly not going to stop you inventing one.
Why It’s Exceptional
The Taste:
Fresh and vibrant, with lemon, pink grapefruit and ripe apple alongside delicate floral notes, creamy pastry and subtle almond character. The palate is crisp and energetic, with fine bubbles, lovely texture and a long, refreshing finish.
The Pedigree:
Produced by Black Chalk in Hampshire, using grapes grown on the estate's chalk soils. The 2022 vintage is made from 46% Pinot Noir, 42% Chardonnay and 12% Pinot Meunier, with the wine spending at least 22 months ageing on its lees before a further six months on cork. A small proportion of oak adds subtle richness and texture.
The Ritual:
Chill it properly, open it with friends and serve with something salty. Crisps and canapés are an excellent place to start.
It also works brilliantly with oysters, crab, prawns, shellfish and fried chicken. Yes, really.

Drink now – 2031 Already drinking beautifully, with a lovely combination of fresh fruit, fine mousse and developing brioche complexity. Its acidity and structure should allow it to gain further depth and richness with careful cellaring over the next few years.
